Leaving tonight!

We sprang ahead this morning!  My usual wake-up time of 6:30 became 7:30, so no yoga before going to church at Emerson!!  My new phone's alarm didn't make any noise!  I've since played with it and I think it's good to go?

I just love this quilt that Ginger made!


Emerson has a Zen meditation room!

Ginger gave the finished stole to Rev. Christina and it is spectacular, especially against her white dress!  And it was fun to see all the people I know from previous trips to Atlanta and from adventures with Ginger!

The service today was very powerful, talking about the Bloody Sunday march and the UU minister, James Reeb, who was murdered for answering the call to march in Selma.  I didn't know that 800 of the 3,000 people in the second march were UUs!




We've arranged for an Uber to pick us up at 4:00.  That should give us plenty of time before our 8:30 flight.  We tried to check into Qatar Airlines last night and MIGHT(?) have been successful.  But we'll be early enough to be sure when we drop off our luggage.  

Turns out that we had to re-order our Uber;  but we still arrived before the recommended three hours and a charming your man named Dejeon tagged our backpacks and ushered us into a shorter line.  Then the gate agent worked his magic to get all our boarding passes and our TSA pre-check, after having a bit of trouble with his computer.


Ready to go!!

At security another nice guy showed me the faster line and Ginger had to be inspected because of her bionic knees.  But here we are at Gate F1, ready to board our first leg to Doha at 7:30!  We've brought sandwiches and munchies, since the flight doesn't take off until 8:35 and who knows when or what dinner will be!!  Here's hoping we can sleep a bit on the plane!!

 Tuesday, March 25, 2025 I'm feeling nearly human and consume the convenience store sandwich that Ginger and Sachiko brought home for me last night.  A big step! Sachiko says that she and her friend, Sachiko go out for coffee every Tuesday morning and would we like to do that?  Yep, you bet! More old broads on the town! And we don't even have to walk! Sachiko II has a car and no one has told her that she's not allowed to drive.  It is a treat to avoid the forced march! This old coffee shop hasn't changed since we were here all those years ago and when I make a kind of sign for iced coffee, the counterman grins and remembers me from last week. A lot of important conversations have happened here, I'll bet!  And there's another one today. February 24, 2025 It's been too long since I've been on the road! But the next adventure is on the horizon.  Cambodia and Japan - here we come!! I'll be flying to Atlanta on March 8th to meet Ginger and we'll head across the world the next day.  Come with us and explore the Hindu-Buddhist temple complex of Angkor Wat, and all that Cambodia has to offer.  Then, continue on to Japan to visit Ginger's son and his family in Nagoya.   These beauties grow in Jan's yard!  Queen's Wreath (and now I know the photo link still works! even though it didn't put the photo where I wanted it!)

Going Home

 Wednesday, March 26, 2025 and Thursay, March 27th Well today's the day. We've got everything stuffed into our bags and plan to leave about 9:30 for the long drive to the airport.  Kyoko comes in with two bags of omiagi!  So sweet!  And I don't know where the heck I'm going to put mine!!  Tae comes in right on time and we head outside to find the Ladies Club waiting to say, "Good-bye"!  They are just so adorable!! Sachiko was saving this special cake for our final breakfast! They want me in the photo, too!! Photos and hugs and we all pile into the van (is it an SUV?  I'll never get it straight!) and away we go. At the airport the kids are starving, of course, and so we head to the food court.  Along the way there's a small piano set up for anyone to play and there's a tiny girl really giving it what for!! She's so good!  And there are ninjas above the ticketing counters!!  Ah, but back to the food court where nearly everyone chooses some...
