Going Home

Wednesday, March 26, 2025 and Thursay, March 27th

Well today's the day. We've got everything stuffed into our bags and plan to leave about 9:30 for the long drive to the airport.  Kyoko comes in with two bags of omiagi!  So sweet!  And I don't know where the heck I'm going to put mine!!  Tae comes in right on time and we head outside to find the Ladies Club waiting to say, "Good-bye"!  They are just so adorable!!

Sachiko was saving this special cake for our final breakfast!

They want me in the photo, too!!

Photos and hugs and we all pile into the van (is it an SUV?  I'll never get it straight!) and away we go. At the airport the kids are starving, of course, and so we head to the food court.  Along the way there's a small piano set up for anyone to play and there's a tiny girl really giving it what for!! She's so good!  And there are ninjas above the ticketing counters!!  Ah, but back to the food court where nearly everyone chooses something.  Then it's time to head to security and make our way to our gate, after final good-byes.

Therein follows a, relatively, short flight to Seoul for another round of security and gate hoping and then the thirteen-hour ordeal to Atlanta.  That one is a Delta flight and we have higher hopes for our favorite airline.  Really, though, nothing much changes.  The movies are the same, an airline seat is an airline seat, and airline food is airline food. First I stop taking photos and then I stop even accepting the little tray. The promise of friendly faces and a real bed is the only sustaining thought.

Watch the "ribbon" for an artistic display!

Not sure that chicken is cooked!

The next day Ginger takes me to the airport for that final leg. On the way we stop to see her quilt on display at the local library and it is outstanding among all the others!!

Lovely library!

At TPA I'm greeted by Betsy and Barbara and there couldn't be a more welcome sight! After being offered two different rides in wheelchairs, I guess I look like I feel!!  The girls not only collect my suitcase and sherpa everything to the car, they even drive me and my car all the way home!  And load food into my fridge! Bestest friends ever!!
